Metallica poster art for REVOLVER Magazine. I was asked to make a design for “The End” feature of the Revolver spring issue, based on the themes of the upcoming album of Metallica. My initial idea was to do a nod to a classic Virgil Finlay piece & have the band radiate light through a frame of demons. When I finished the piece, the possibility of using it for a poster came up. I decided to add a border based on the “M” of their logo & a small ornamental “Metallica/Pushead”- skull at the bottom. Brandon Geist, the editor in chef loved the skull so much, that he asked, if I could place it in the center. Leaving me with an open space, which I filled with the Revolver “R”.  So in the end the border consist of the Metallica “M” & a Revolver “R”, perfect.

The timing could have been more perfect for this: there’s plenty of Easter eggs in the art, see if you can find them all.
